Services for Frances Axe, 98, 3567 North 250 West, Portland, are Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Rittenhouse officiating. She died Wednesday at her home.
Born on Sept. 29, 1909, in Lexington, Ky., to Lewis and Ethel (Arthur) Frogge, she was married on Dec. 3, 1926, to Lee Roy Axe, who died on July 23, 1984.
A member of the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary for 15 years, she had volunteered more than 3,000 hours.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland.
Survivors include a son, Bob Axe, rural Portland; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, northeast of Portland.
