Funeral services for Carolyn June (Morton) Clarke, 80, widow of Dr. Ralph B. Clarke, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Rev. Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. .

Carolyn Clarke passed away March 13, 2012 in Bryan. She was born November 10, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Samuel LeRoy Morton and June Hughes Morton Hornberger. Carolyn obtained an RN license at Mercy Hospital in Detroit and was a surgical nurse at Zieger Hospital, where she met her future husband, Dr. Ralph B. Clarke. They married March 20, 1954 in Highland Park, Michigan, and were married 49 years.

While living in Houston, Carolyn and her husband Ralph were actively involved with a number of agencies in the war against drugs, long before it became a popular cause. She had a gusto for life, taking part in various hobbies over the years, including bowling, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and working puzzles. In her younger years she enjoyed taking her kids to the beach and on camping trips in the RV. Watching baseball, especially the Houston Astros, was a favorite pastime. She also delighted in watching the rain fall. After retiring from the nursing profession, she was employed with Del Sol Foods in Brenham. She was a member of the Rotary Club in her younger years, and the Women's Osteopathy Auxiliary Association. Carolyn also donated her time to fundraising for Easter Seal and the March of Dimes.

Survivors include daughters Carol Salazar of Temple; Nanalee Wanha of Canton, GA., and Gaila Pena and husband Fred of Brenham; grandchildren: Kyle Wanha, Stephanie Wanha, Christopher Wanha, Jason Robertson, Jamie Robertson, La Tisha Salazar, Corey Salazar, Sarah Stopper, and Anthony Pena; great-grandchildren: Arabella Wanha, Leah Robertson, Eve Robertson, Chad Robertson, Isaiah Robertson, and Halle Stopper; brother Robert Morton and wife Yoshiko of Wellington, NV.; brother-in-law Charlie Bittner; cousins Vernita Sari and Bill Lewandowsky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also remembered is her special companion, her dog, Bitsy. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Dr. Ralph B. Clarke; son-in-law Steve Wanha; grandson Chadwick Neil Robertson; granddaughter, Erin Colette Wanha; brother Douglas Morton, and sister, Marjorie Bittner.

Serving as pallbearers are Jason Robertson, Jamie Robertson, Anthony Pena, Corey Salazar, Jeffrey Stopper, and Larry Robertson. Honorary pallbearers are Fred Pena, Kyle Wanha, and Christopher Wanha.
