Funeral For Andrew Carrigan Held at Church Here Monday Afternoon
WAS FORMER TEACHER HERE
The Funeral for Andrew Carrigan, who died last week Wednesday, was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Augusta. Burial was made in the Day cemetery. Pallbearers were four young men from Sturgis, who played on Mr. Carrigan's champion basketball team when he taught in that city. Mr. Carrigan, who was 33 years of age, died at Sun Antonio, Texas, from acute Bright's disease. He was born in Illinois and came to Michigan at the age of five years. He graduated from the W.S.T.C. at Kalamazoo and attended the University of Michigan and Notre Dame college, near South Bend, Ind. He taught school here 10 years ago, then went to Sturgis where he taught four years. He was a coach at the Harrison Technical school in Chicago for a time. Some time ago he went to Texas after he had contracted tuberculosis. He is survived by one son, Richard, of Charlotte, his mother, Mrs. Mary Carrigan, five brothers, James of Ross township, Robert of Chicago, William and Archie of Battle Creek, and John of Banfield; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Rogers of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. James Van Hout of Prairieville.
