SERVED WITH CO K 184TH PA INFANTRY REGIMENT DURING THE CIVIL WAR.
The son of John & Mary Ann (Phillips) Cassatt, in 1860 he was a laborer living in Straban Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 8" tall and had dark hair and dark eyes. He married Susan Catherine Tate March 10, 1864, and fathered Susan Alice (b. 12/05/64 - married Calvin King Moose), John W. E. (b. 07/03/67), Martha J. (b. @1870 - married Emery L. Reigal), Anna M. (b. 03/??/75 - married Charles Stallsmith), Sarah Ellen (b. @1878 - married John H. Dotterger and George W. Horting), Charles Benjamin (b. 10/??/85), and Mary (b. @1887).
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Arendtsville, Adams County, August 28, 1864, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg September 3 as a private with Co. K, 184th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 2, 1865.

P. O. Cassatt died Sunday morning at five o'clock at his home in Butler township from pneumonia aged 65 yrs
He had been ill about one week. He in survived by his wife, two sons.
