~~Lucy Alice~~
Lucy Alice Wright of Harrison county, Texas married Benjamin Franklin Pridgen of Dewitt County, Texas on November 12, 1863. They moved directly to Houston County, Texas and established a home on on Elkhart Creek, 5 miles from Grapeland, Texas.
To this union were born six children;
1. A son that died in infancy.
2. Lula May
3. Robert Lee
4. Wright Taylor
5. Lena Ross (died young)
6. Edith Pearl
Benjamin Franklin and wife Lucy Alice were fine, sincere citizens--always sharing and ministering unto the needs of their family and friends. To their many friends they were affectionately known as "Uncle Frank" and "Miss Alice". He was a successful farmer and from 1863 until the end of the ivil War, he managed his own plantation, the plantations
of William Nugent Sheridan and Captain Redding Scott Pridgen (his brother). He also assisted other families where the need arose during the hard years of the Civil War.

He and his wife had a good education and were intensely interested that their children had the same. Schools were sparse and they helped engage the services of fine teachers who lived in their home.

Locust Grove Plantation home of Lucy Alice Wright before she married.
As of June 9, 2012, I was notified that the house is indeed standing and is near what is now Jonesville, Texas.
Still owned by Wright descendants. Built in 1847 to 1849.
Information came from Lora Taylor Hornberger descendant of Alpheus Wright and Lucy Taylor Wright. She was so gracious to send a picture taken in 1991-1992. In fact she was at the home 2 weeks ago.

Daughter; Lula May Pridgen Sheridan 1866-1933
