PETER EDWIN GRIMES

The truth of the old saying that angels born on earth are soon transplanted in heaven is sorrowfully illustrated in the sad death of little Peter Edwin Grimes, the bright baby son of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Grimes, of Cedar Township, Monroe Co., Iowa, who passed away on Sunday morning, Dec. 30, after an illness of only a few days.

Death comes always with a shock when its coming has been expected, but it still seems harder to bear when it comes so suddenly as it did to this dear little one. No one had any idea that death was so near, but despite the anxious care and tender devotion of the family and friends, the death angel visited the home and his dark wings cast a gloomy shadow over all as the spirit of son and brother winged its way to try the realities of the unknown.

Little Peter Edwin was aged only 11 months and 28 days at the time he was called from this earthly home. However, during the short life of the little one, who with his kind and loving disposition had become such a treasure to his parents and little sisters and brother that it was so hard to give him up but God has enable them to say, "Thy will be done." Christ has said "Suffer little children to come unto me."

God grant that when we are called to cross the river of death, one by one, that we, like the departed, may be as pure and innocent, have our hand in the hand of Jesus and be safely landed on the other shore.

Funeral services were held at Coal Glen church, conducted by Rev. Smith, after which all that was mortal was laid away amid flowers and tears, to await the resurrection of the redeemed.
