Baca died Jan. 9, 2010, in Gallup. He was born July 13, 1926, in Cebollitita, N.M.
Baca was employed at Fort Wingate Army Depot. He retired in 1981 after 31 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and received a Victory Medal from World War II. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing guitar, keyboard and the accordion.
Survivors include his son, Joe E. Baca Jr. of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Theresa Ortiz of Gallup; brothers, Henry Baca, Felix Baca; sisters, Mary Sandoval, Carol Chavez, Sylvia Valdez; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Baca was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen E. Baca; daughter, Mary Helen Olguin; parents, Flora and Candido Baca; sister, Rosie Salais; two grandsons.
Pallbearers will be George Olguin Jr., Jesus Baca, Brett Saucedo, David Saucedo, Chad Medina, Loren Hovland, Michael Baca.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 2724 Foothills, family home, following services.
