Funeral services were held here Wednesday afternoon for Clinton Lorain Bennett, 61, of Brocton, who died at 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Charleston Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bennett had been in ill health the past four and a half years. Services were held in McGauhey and Joines Funeral Home with the Rev. M. Thomas Swanter, minister of the First Methodist Church of Newman, officiating. Mrs. Robert Jones was organist and Montell Thompson was the vocal soloist. Pallbearers were John G. Hales, Charles Richards, Palmer Hales, Hugh Dillon, Wayne Howe, and Robert Bennett. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Methodist Church. He was born Nov. 13, 1902, at Metcalf, a son of Jacob Clark and Bertha Swigert Bennett. Surviving are his mother; five brothers, Elmo, Boyd and Lloyd of Brocton, and Hugh and Dale of Newman; three sisters, Mrs. Sidney Watson and Mrs. Ephraim VanDyke of Newman, and Mrs. Ira [sic] Wilson of Chrisman.
