Donald J. Emerson March 6, 1928 - April 19, 2010 Longtime Lake County businessman Don Emerson lost his courageous battle with Leukemia. He was 82 years old.
Don was born in San Francisco and spent every summer as a boy at his family's Forest Lake Resort in Cobb. In 1952 Don and his wife Dorothy bought out the other family members and they operated the resort until they sold it in 1963.
Don served as a board member of the Bank of Lake County for thirty five years. He was also on the Board of Directors of West America Bank. Among his many contributions to Lake County, Don served as president of Lake County Chamber of Commerce, president of Redwood Empire Association, chairman of the Lake County Board of Trade and was a member of the Lake County Building committee which built the present courthouse, agriculture building and south shore county offices.
Don was a volunteer fireman for 34 years and served as a commissioner for what is now the South Lake Fire Protection District for twenty years, ten as Chairman of the Board. In 2008 Don was proud to be the recipient of Lake County's Lifetime Achievement Award. He also was an active member of the Cobb Mountain Lions Club for fifty years.
Don leaves behind his loving wife Dorothy, three children, Jon Emerson, Katie (Jim) Keefer, Karen (Joe) Ogando, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
