Arthur H. Allen died at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy, CA. He had been a resident of Pacific Hills Manor in Morgan Hill, CA.
Arthur had succumbed to heart failure after a long bout with lymphoma.
He was born in Minneapolis, MN. He had come to Brentwood, CA with his family in July of 1926.
He had attended elementary and high school in Brentwood where he became a star athlete at Liberty Union High School. He was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at Liberty.
During his senior year he enlisted in the Army into an armored infantry battalion after basic training. He was a decorated NCO Combat Infantryman and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.
Upon his return from the War, he married Margaret Oetjen, a high school sweetheart. The marriage produced two sons: John and Robert.
Arthur attended Modesto Jr. College for a year and a half and starred in both basketball and football. He enrolled at San Jose State (college at that time) and was again, a standout athlete. He was graduated as a holder of a BS Degree.
After college he worked on the ranch of his father-in-law. He, at that time, became interested in farming; and subsequently became a licensed certified Agricultural Consultant.
Upon the end of his first marriage he met and married Patricia Luigard of San Jose and their marriage bore a daughter whom they named Kimberly. After Patricia passed away Kimberly married, and later, a grandson was presented to Arthur.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Allen and her son, Rafi; a brother, Chas D. Allen of Modesto; two sons, John Allen of Stockton and Robert Allen of Roseville; two nephews, Kevin Pfeffinger of Santa Cruz and Nolan Pfeffinger of Lafayette, CA; three nieces, Stephanie Allen of Denver, CO, Noel Pfeffinger of Lafayette, CA Alana Pfeffinger of Los Angeles and one cousin, Alice Hopper of Klammath Falls, OR.
Memorial Service will be held on Oct. 21, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Albans Episcopal Church, Brentwood, CA with Rev. Edward Dondi officiating.
Interment will be held following the memorial service at Union Cemetery, Brentwood, CA.
