Alice Woolfolk Parmalee (nee Maury) was born June 7, 1863, the youngest daughter of Judge William Arden Maury and Elizabeth Herndon. She died Sept 30, 1940, age 78, at home, the Causeway, 3029 Klingle Rd., Washington, DC, formerly of Columbus, Ohio. She was the widow of James Parmalee of Washington D. C. and Cleveland, Ohio.
Alice was the granddaughter of John W. Maury, former mayor of Washington, on her father's side and Mathew Fontaine Maury, Path-finder of the Seas, on her mother's side.

Alice's funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1940 at Bethlehem Chapel, Washington Cathedral, with Bishop Freeman officiating. Interment in the crypt of the cathedral.
