Lavina (Howe) Kelsey was the daughter of Lemuel and Sarah "Sally" (Goodwin) Howe. She was the wife of Rev. James Kelsey. They were married New Marlborough, Massachusetts January 13, 1803. Rev. Kelsey died August 1, 1840. He was a minister in the Philadelphia Conference/New York Conference/Genesee Conference and Oneida Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
