I feel very lucky to have known my great-grandmother, Edna Mae Moore, or Big Granny. She was a quiet lady, given to standing back and letting her husband, Hatton (Big PawPaw), tell his jokes and entertain the family. She loved visiting with her seven kids and all their kids, and their kids' kids. She loved quilting, and sleeping at her house in Colorado City was the coziest experience you could ever imagine because the beds would be piled high with her homemade quilts. She loved to cook for the family and then retire to an all-night game of Canasta with whomever wanted to join the game.

She and Big PawPaw loved to camp and fish, mostly on the Colorado River, where they always brought their beloved dog, Sandy. I remember waking up in her camper to the soft noise of her and her daughters, Margaret and Mae, cooking breakfast for everyone. When Hatton died, her health deteriorated - the two of them were in love with one another throughout their 63-year marriage. It was difficult to see her sadness, but she had moved in with my grandmother, Margaret, which meant I got to spend a lot of time with her in her final years. I will always remember her kindness and gentle nature.

Hatton and Edna had seven children: Mae, Marshall, Margaret, Bill, Bob, DA, and Cal. Margaret's memorial is here, and Bobby has also passed away, unfortunately.

I'd like to thank Beth Love, a cousin on Hatton's side, for taking the photo of the grave and turning the record over to me so that I could create a memorial for my wonderful great-grandmother.
