Our beloved husband and father, Walter Paul Morris, 66, passed away March 11, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Above all Walter loved his family, especially spending time fishing with his grandchildren. He was born, April 29, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York to Edward Morris and Jennie Morris. He lived in Brooklyn until he joined the Army, serving during the Vietnam War, earning a Silver Star, a Bronze Star with Valor device a Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He served in the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 25th Infantry Division. Upon separating from the Army he returned to Brooklyn, where he continued to serve others as a firefighter in Engine Company 201, until injury necessitated his retirement. His willingness to put others before himself not only in the line of duty but in his day to day conduct defined Walter through his entire life. Everyone that knew him knew they could depend on him in any circumstance. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary, three sons, Walter Morris, Windsor, Michael and Tara Morris, Millersville, Md. and Patrick and Bonnie Morris, Binghamton, treasured grandchildren, Paul, Matthew, Gabriel, Casey, Liam, Jack, and Lily, his brother Gene and Ronnie Morris, East Hampton, Mass. and sister Ginger and Cliff Larson, Hopatcong, NJ and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by parents, Edward and Jennie Morris brother John, niece Nancy. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Alfred Bebel officiating. Interment will follow services in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 until 9:00 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Memorial contributions in Walter's name may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
