He served his fellow citizens in many capacities. He served six years as county recorder,four years as county treasurer, four years as representative in the Ohio Legislature. He was for many years business manager fo the Gallipolis Journal. He was survived by his wife Mary, four daughters, a son, three brothers and two sisters
