At the time of the flood, 3 generations were at home - Jane, her mother Ellen Dunlea, her children Charles, Thomas, Annie, Charlotte & Bertha. (Note: In the Shadow of the Dam lists Charlotte & Bertha as Jane's grandchildren but birth records list both as children of Robert & Jane). The house was located below the button factory in Leeds.
Ellen Dunlea also died in the Mill River Flood; place of burial is unknown at this time.
Jane was found on 18 May in the Florence meadows. Her legs had been severed and one had been buried before it was identified as her's.(In the Shadow of the Dam, pp 83,114)
