Joe E. Acy Sr.

Services for Joe E. Acy Sr., 65, of Seattle, Wash., who died of heart failure Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in Seattle, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Black Hawk.

Mr. Acy was retired. A native of Carroll County, he completed his education at Vaiden High School. He joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Alaska, Germany and Thailand, and retired after 25 years of service. Following his retirement from the military, he worked with various government contractors. He resided in Seattle for the past 2 1/2 years. He was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Acy of Atlanta, Ga.; and his father, Grady A. Acy.

He is survived by his wife, Remie Acy of Seattle; three sons, Frank Acy of Gainesville, Fla., and Joe E. Acy Jr. and Shane Acy, both of Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter, Tina Acy Kelly of Clarksville; his mother, Stella Acy of Black Hawk; four brothers, Bobby Acy of Coila, Billy Acy of Greenwood, Jerry Acy of Madison and Larry Acy of Kileen, Texas; one sister, Delores Acy Tackett of Greenwood; the mother of his children, Freida Acy of Clarksville and three granddaughters.

The Rev. Keith Ramage will officiate at the services. . Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post No. 29.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Acy, Gareth Acy, Marvin Acy, Reggie Tackett, Bo Ellis and Wayne Winters.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 this evening at Williams & Lord Funeral Home.
