Funeral services for Betty Marie Beckman, 66, Volga, formerly of Elkader, were held Wednesday, May 10, 1989. The service was held at First Congregational Church, Elkader, with burial in the Communia Cemetery, rural Elkader. Pam S. Forney, student pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were Leslie W Coonfare, Tim Morse, Lyle Robbins and Victor Morse.
Betty Marie Beckman was born July 25, 1922, in rural Volga, the daughter of Luman and Vivian (Jennings) Fox. She attended Volga High School. On Feb. 25, 1944, she married Donald Beckman of Elkader. He died January 1, 1981. She worked at various jobs and always lived in this area. She was a member of the Congregational Church. Betty Marie Beckman died Sunday, May 7, 1989, at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.
Survivors include her children, Albert and wife Linda of Coggon, David of Postville, and Mrs. Shane (Cindee) Howard of Volga; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Victor (Lois) Morse of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Arthur (JoAnn) Prfrommer of Arlington. Preceding her in death besides her husband were her parents, a sister Bernice Fox, and a brother LuRoy Fox.
