He was born in the Provence of Ontario and educated in Toronto, Canada. He came to the United States as an underwriter for the Home Insurance Co. of New York.
He was an Army Infantry officer during World War II, serving in Japan and the Philippines.
He retired from Atlantic Mutual Fire Insurance Co. in 1983 as executive vice president. He was a past commodore of Savannah Yacht Club, a former member of Savannah International Airport Commission, a past chairman of North American Airport Council International, a past president and life member of Georgia 1752 Club and an honorary member of International Lightning Class Sailing Association. He was the widower of Dorothy Frances Aggett.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Frances Wallace Woodward of Savannah; two grandchildren, Wallace Erwin Woodward and Laura Frances Woodward, both of Savannah; a nephew, retired Navy Rear Adm. George H. Strohsahl of Kent, Wash.; and a niece, Donna Aggett Cullen of Scarborough, Canada.
