Anna Kendrick Stevens was the daughter of Benoni and Mary Warner Kendrick. She married Zachariah Stevens on 26 December 1810 at Scott County, KY. Anna and Zachariah lived in Athens County, Ohio in 1837 and in Wayne County, IL in 1853. They were the parents of Mary "Polly" Stevens Nickell, Mahala Stevens Harlan, James Franklin Stevens, Henry Stevens, Joseph Stevens, Sarah Ann Stevens Taylor, William Stevens, Rachel Stevens Drake and Manerva Stevens Carson. Anna and Zachariah and several of their children are buried in Cisne cemetery as well as Anna's sister Elizabeth Kendrick West.

ANNA'S OBIT 5 June 1879 in Wayne County Press: The quoted text of the newspaper article reads: "Died, of general debility, at the residence of the undersigned, (Isaac B Carson her son in law) near Cisne, on the 15th inst. Annie Stevens, in the eighty-eigth year of her age. The deceased was born in Virginia Jan. 26th, 1792. Her father, Benonah Kendria, removed to Bourbon Co., KY in the year 1795 where she married Zachariah Stevens in the year 1810 who she survived sixteen years. (Mr. S. was one of the soldiers of the war 1812)...She raised a family of ten children of whom only three are living. Mrs. Stevens was probably one of the oldest women in the county." This obit was written by her son in law Isaac Carson husband of Manerva Stevens Carson.

Anna Kendrick Stevens lived 16 years longer than her husband, Zachariah Stevens, Jr. Her son, Henry Stevens, stepped up to the plate and helped his mother with the farm, until he died in 1876 leaving his mother to negotiate the farm mechanics alone. All o...(Read more)
