Article about the flight and 11 member crew of their "Liberator" B-24 bomber. They were members of the 868th Bomber Squadron, part of the 13th Army Air Corp, and the 868th was known as the "Snoopers".

Harold's name is engraved on the "Walls of the Missing" at the McKinley Park American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines. The monument in Manila was formerly known as Fort McKinley during World War II.

Oliver Samuel Bowers (1856-1895) and his wife, Lucetta (Brooks) Bowers-Hayes (1859-1944). He died young at 39, and is probably buried at Athens County, Ohio. His wife married again to Mr. Hayes.

1st Sgt. Samuel Still "Sammie" Burgess (1837-1916) and his wife, Sarah Lucinda "Sally" (Teegarden) Burgess (1844-1932). Sammie's Civil War service was in Company "D" of the 6th Regiment of the Missouri State Militia Cavalry. He was listed as a "Deserter", arrested, and later cleared of the charges. Sammie and Sally are buried at Waukomis Cemetery; Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma.

Harold's name is inscribed on the Monument in Manila, Philippines. But I have listed him in the cemetery with his parents since he was lost in the sea and not recovered in the deep water.
