Emma Mae Jay Freer was born November 10, 1901, third child of five. She was Baptized in 1905 and Confirmed in 1917 at Trinity Episcopal Church. In 1935 she, along with her parents arrived back in New York on the "Republic" after visiting with family in Bristol, including William Alfred and his wife Kate Jay. Prior to her marriage, she was a commercial artist for the Norcross Greeting Card Company. On September 5th 1931 she married John Newell Freer and they moved to Ohio. She continued to design greeting cards. John and Emma had two daughters and one son. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Blue Jacket Social Club, the Athenian Club and a King's Daughters circle.
