According to notes in his mother's Bible, Norman Christian was born on April 5, 1914, at 10 o'clock pm; was baptized on April 6, 1914; and died on April 7, 1914, at 9:30 am, and his funeral was held on April 8, 1914, at 2:00 pm. According to his death certificate, he died of capillary bronchitis.

His Baptism is recorded in the records of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton City, Missouri. His godparents were Mrs. Anna Linstrot (the wife of his mother's uncle William) and Ida Gernant (his father's sister).

From the Appleton City Journal, 16 April 1914: "The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Gernant died Tuesday morning, April 7th. Funeral services were held at the German church in Appleton City. Interment in the City Cemetery." (Contributed by Rebecca Mullen [50041678])
