Harry was born on August 30, 1918 the first born child of Henry Daniel and Clara Louis Dixon Ellington.

Other siblings in the family are Olive Marie, Lorna Theresa, Stanley George (Jiggs), Kenneth William (Kenny), Richard Oliver (Dicky), Betty Jean, Arthur Raymond (Arty), William Clifford, Shirley Virginia, Clara Louise, Laverne Ella (Chubby), Vernon John, Robert Augustus (Duke) and George Edward.

He was baptised at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He married Frances Regina Jordan on November 22, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri.

Children to this marriage were Harry Paul (Boots), Micheal Hurt, Karen C., Keeley Ann, and Kenneth L.

He was in the Army, in Germany in World War II.

Worked at Mallincrodt Chemical Company.

He died at his sons home in Florida on November 30, 2001 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri on the family plot, Section 17A next to his wife Frances and daughter Karen. Informant on death certificate was Denise Ellington.
