Mrs. Abbie Smith died at her home in the Cove community, near Witter, Aug. 27. Interment was made in the Cove Cemetery.

Funeral service for Mrs. Abbie Smith, age 81 years, of the Cove community, was conducted by Rev. Harrison Collins and Rev. G. W. R. Hooper at the Cove cemetery Saturday, Aug. 28. The pallbearers were Homer Barker, Everett Silvs, Rosco Johnson (sons-in-law), Odie Fowler, Beecher Porter (grandsons) and Jim Burnett (newphew). Death occurred at 10:30 Friday night, Aug. 27, 1943, after a long illness.
The deceased was the daughter of Jeremiah and Abbie Burnett and was a native of Cook county, Tex., and came with her parents to Arkansas in 1869 when she was only six years old. She was married to John Smith Feb. 11, 1884, and they spent most of their sixty years of married life in the Cove community. Since her health failed they had made their home with their son Charlie, besides whom she is survived by her husband and the following children: Martha Lane, May Burnett, Julis Chase and Cassie Kalor all of La Habra, Calif., Addie Hamilton of Stillwell, Okla., Ella Silvis of Huntsville, Nida Johnson of Boston and Alpha Barker of Combs, also by 45 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, and a kind and devoted mother. She iwll be greatly missed by her relatives and many friends.
