Billy Ganey, 77, went to be with the Lord, Jan. 12, 2008. Billy was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Blackshear, Ga., and was retired from the United States Air Force as a senior master sergeant after 22 years of service and also served during the Vietnam War. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Sadie Ganey; and a sister, Bobbie Jean. Billy lived to love, laugh and play jokes and was loved by all who knew him. Survivors include a son, Timothy C. Ganey of Chesapeake; a daughter, Sherry Peale and her husband Jim of Virginia Beach; a brother, Parker; four sisters, Betty Ruth, Patsy, Dot and Carol; three grandchildren, J.D. Peale and his wife Elisabeth, Melissa and Kevin. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N. Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach by Pastor Tom Hutton. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road in Virginia Beach today from 6 to 8 p.m.
