Ferdinand was the son of Simon and Julia Buytinck of Maldegem, Belgium. He was married about 1885 at Maldegem to Julie Roose also from Maldegem.
On march 1 st 1891 he boarded a ship sailling from Antwerp to the USA, soon after arrival he went to Hartwick, Iowa.
On april 2nd 1902 his wife Julie and children Mary age 11 (born in Belgium), Alfons age 10, Victor age 5, Cantelis age 9 and son Ernest age 3 all born in Moline, IL boarded on the SS Soutwark.
Ferdinand settled on a farm in Hartwick,IA in 1900, 14 y later he moved to Riceville, IA. By 1920 he lives on a farm with his sons Victor and Ernest who was married to Lilly Stirniman.
He died in Rock Island, IL.
