|Birth: ||Jun. 5, 1854|
|Death: ||Apr. 19, 1931|
NOTE: His first name is spelled correctly on the headstone. He has children, grandchildren, and great children who carry his name spelled this same way. There are times you see it spelled Cyril, and that is okay too but since the headstone and children have it spelled Cyriel, it stands as written on the headstone.

A Story Regarding the first wife, Helena Duvall and their baby boy who passed away one day apart from child birth.
Monroe Commercial, Thursday, November 8, 1877, Page 1, Col. 3
DIED-Nov. 3, infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Lapoint. The mother, Mrs. Lapoint, aged 24 years, died Nov. 4, at 4 o'clock A.M., at child birth. The funeral of both at the Catholic Church occurred Nov. 5th, at 10 o'clock A.M. Rev. Charles Thomas officiated.
NOTE: This obituary shared p.1, c.3 with a historical story named, "Custer In the News, In Monroe County and Throughout the United States, MONUMENT FOR CUSTER." The story starts out like this; If you have any spare change that you would like to put into a monument for Custer, the dashing brown haired cavalry hero who went down before overwhelming odds at the Little Big Horn, the opportunity is now presented. Shortly after his death a universal desire was expressed that a monument should be erected to his memory. The New York Hearald announced that subscriptions for the purpose would be recieved at its office, and in a few weeks $4,051.20 were subscribed by the admirers of the dead hero and his comrades.
There are two and a half more paragraphs regarding the remainder of the story. I am sure the last thing on Great Great Grandpa LaPointe's mind was worrying about spare change for a Gen. Armstrong Custer Monument. No disrespect intended.
Researched and transcribed by Cyriel LaPointe's great great granddaughter, Sherri L. Czuchra on Jan. 9, 2010.
NOTE: Notice the first wife and baby are linked to this page showing a burial in Erie, Michigan. Personally, I have not found any proof of where the burial took place and the person who has it linked to this page refuses to remove them from this website.
