The following obituary appeared in The Hartford Courant, Hartford, CT, Tuesday, 10 June 1997:

George S. Kablesh, 64, of Des Moines, IA, died Friday (June 6, 1997) in Quechee, VT during a brush fire. He was born on May 6, 1933 in Terryville, the youngest son of Anna (Stawiski) and Sedor Kablesh, who were life-long residents of that community. Mr. Kablesh was a graduate of the University of Connecticut where he was a Charter Member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. ln 1987, he was honored with the School of Agriculture's Award for Distinguished Service. Mr. Kablesh worked wi th the United States Department of Agriculture, Meat Grading Branch, directing operations throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic States and the Upper Midwest. He served main stations in New York, Princeton, NJ and Des Moines, IA. After 35 years of distinguished service, he retired in 1994. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post No. 20 of Terryville. Mr. Kablesh was a member of the Board of Directors for the State of Iowa Credit Unions. He was active in the Maytag Club and as a researcher and collector of military vehicles. Mr. Kablesh is survived by his wife, Bonilyn (Emery) Kablesh, formerly of Mystic; his son Scott, of Hanover, NH; a daughter, Kimberly Klett of Hopewell, NJ; a grandson, Alexander George Klett; a brother, John Kablesh of Southington; and two sisters, Lovey Kowaleski of Terryville, and Neda Brenner of Scottsdale, AZ; pre-deceased by three brothers, Stephen, William and Harry Kablesh. The funeral will be Wednesday (July 11), 9:30 a.m. from the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville to St. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church, 34 Fairview Ave, Terryville at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Cyril Cemetery, Terryville. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. A Panihida will be held at the funeral home today at 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 19 Stearns St., Bristol, 06010 or to the charity of donor's choice.
