Mickey Kent McDonald of Lorenzo, TX, passed away in his home on Key Allegro in Rockport on Tuesday, October 21. He was 68.

Mickey was born November 1, 1939, at home in Lubbock to Alex and Lola McDonald. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School, where he played football for the Lubbock Westerners. He received a degree in business from Denver University. He married Susan Cubberly August 27, 1961, in Millburn, IL. They lived in Denver and Greeley, CO, before making their home in Lorenzo, east of Lubbock.

He was a successful salesman for American National Insurance Company and in 1970 became a partner in Hurst Farm Supply, Inc. of Lorenzo, one of the South Plains' largest John Deere dealerships. He served several terms on the Lorenzo City Council.

He is survived by his wife Susie; daughter Kimberly McDonald Evans and her husband, Terry, of Kennedale, TX; son Jason McDonald and his wife Katherine, of Austin, TX; grandchildren Troy, Walker, Fulton, and Key Evans, of Kennedale and Mickey James McDonald, of Austin, TX; a brother, Craig and his wife Ann of Lubbock; a sister, Conny McDonald Martin and her husband C. B. of Lubbock; sisters-in-law Dale Watne and her husband Jeff, and Rosie Breazier and her husband Bruce, all of Colorado; brother-in-law Richard Cubberly and his wife Carol of Park Ridge, IL, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Fred, and his sister, Betty Peak.

Mickey was an avid golfer and made friends wherever he went. He and Susie spent many months a year at their vacation home on Key Allegro. He was a longtime supporter of the Children's Home of Lubbock and Lubbock Christian University.
