Maude Judia Kemper
Birth: Oct. 8, 1893
Eastland County
Texas, USA
Death: Aug. 25, 1987
Taylor County
Texas, USA

Maude Judia was the oldest of a very musical family. Her father owned and ran the Judia Theater in Cisco, as well as being a very active band leader. Her little brother Guy died when she was only 7 years old, and her mother died when she was only 8. Being the oldest, she felt it her job to take care of the other siblings, which she always did. Upon her mother Eva's death, Eva's mother moved in and helped to take care of the children. She was actively involved with her father's "Silent Movie house" the Judia theater, and being very musical, she played the piano at the front, providing intensity and excitement to the silent movies playing. She always loved playing the piano. Next door to the theater was a grocery store, and there was a young man over there that caught her eye. She married him when she was 24, and soon became the mother of 3 energetic boys. She instilled in each of them the love of music.

Her world was shaken again by death when her father died when the boys were still young. And again later, when they themselves became embroiled in WW II. Her middle son, Guy, (who was named after her brother that died as a baby) was apparently shot down over Rabaul in the Solomon Islands. This was a jolt that she never really recovered from. Although she still had a zest for life, there was a hole in her heart that never healed.

After Guy's death, life went on, and she became a super wonderful grandmother to 8 lucky grandchildren that were blessed to have her in their lives. She loved fishing, camping, cooking and playing the piano. She often would sit and play for hours, and they were usually either classical or the tunes from the 1920s that she loved so. She taught nearly all of her children & grandchildren piano, and at the very least a love for music, which was deeply ingrained in her being.

A more wonderful grandmother, there never was...
