William L. Imes is the son of Moses J. Imes and Mary Ellen Davis Imes. William joined the Cavalry when he was 18 years old and living in Madison County, IA. William enlisted on 2/27/1864 as a Private and "mustered" into "D" Co. IA, 1st Cavalry. William "mustered" out on 2/15/1866 at Austin, TX. William was the husband of Mary Jane (LIVINGOOD) Imes. William and Mary Jane were married in 1876. Mary Jane was previously married to Mr. Livingood and had two daughters by her first marriage. Sarah Livingood, b. 1872, was one of Mary Jane's daughters. Both Mary Jane and William L. are buried at Fairview Cemetery, Fountain, CO.
