Kyle was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when four years of age. He developed normally in the early years but gradually the muscular degeneracy began to show. He was confined to a wheelchair sometime after his ninth birthday but showed a positive attitude and did his best to keep up with his classmates. In 2004, he accomplished one of his first major goals when he graduated with his class having better than average grades.
His second major goal was to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His disability would not allow him to serve the normal two year full time mission so he served in the LDS employment services for nine months.
He was blessed with good friends. Over the years they provided physical, mental and emotional help and encouragement to each other. Kyle was small and fragile but his mind, heart and spirit were full of life. Though small he left a mighty big footprint. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Kyle is survived by his parents Melville Smith Bowers and Janet Collier Bowers; one brother-- Adam Melville Bowers; four sisters--Samantha Bowers Comeaux, Angela Bowers Bigler, Cheryl Bowers Crowder and Cyrena Bowers Sexton; and both grandmothers, Clovis Smith Bowers and Fern Lee Collier.
