Father George was a Navy Seal and a police officer before he became a priest about 11 years ago. From the moment he was ordained, he just had this *something* as if he was meant to be a priest and his destiny had caught up with him.
Father George was gentle and funny and the word "Father" fit him. When he spoke to you, it was as if he had blocked out everyone else and was totally focused on you. His sermons had that same quality, though, so it felt like he was speaking only to you and could see into your soul, telling you to straighten up and do the right thing.
Father George had a beautiful, delicate wife, Anna, and two children, Susan and Stanley, who were with him when he closed his eyes to this life and opened them in heaven.
Thou only Creator Who with wisdom profound mercifully orders all things, and gives unto all that which is useful, give rest, 0 Lord, to the soul of Thy servant who has fallen asleep, for he has placed his trust in Thee, our Maker and Fashioner and our God.
With the saints give rest, 0 Christ, to the soul of Thy servant where sickness and sorrow are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.
O God of spirits and of all flesh, who has trampled down Death, and made powerless the Devil, and given life to Thy world; do Thou the same Lord, give rest to the soul of Thy departed servant, George, in a place of brightness, a place of verdure, a place of repose, whence all sickness, sorrow, and sighing have fled away. Pardon every sin which he hath committed, whether by word, or deed or thought; for Thou art good, and lovest mankind; for there is no man who lives and sins not, and Thou only are without sin, and Thy righteousness is to all eternity, and Thy law is truth.
