My GG Grandfather went by his middle name Francis as did his grandfather, his son and grandson. I never even knew their names were Theodore until I started looking through papers and working on finding my family's beginnings. I remember everyone when I was a kid always referring to them as Uncle Francis or grandpa Francis. GG Grandfather Francis and his brother William bought the farm on the Dirt rd around 1867. It was built by the Wixom family around 1830. They farmed while their sister Esther kept the house. Esther and William left after Theodore got married to Emma in 1869, where they stayed and raised 8 kids. All though the Historical records say that Theodore named the Rd Drake Rd when Edison came through, he didn't. He died in 1914 and Edison didn't come through until the 20's at which time his son Stanley who by then had built his farm across the street on property his father had given him. It was Stanley who named the Rd Drake, when he was out posting fence, the Edison man came by and told him they needed to name the road. When asked what Stanley thought, he replied with "Drake Rd sounds good" The Edison man said sounds good to me and that was how Drake rd became Drake Rd. My Cousin Jean, Stanleys daughter is still alive and she stands by that story as it was told to her by her father.
