Addie Kirk Phears was the adopted daughter of Absalom Horace Phears and Nancy Lou Walston. Addie was born in Washington County, Texas and the family moved to Montgomery County, Texas about 1895.
Addie married John Hardy Smith on March 26, 1912 and had 5 children; John Hardy Jr., Virgie Mae, Emmett B., Marrietta, and Annie Mildred. Virgie married Leonard Singleton. Marrietta married 1. Thomas DuBose 2. Norman Chappell. Annie married Bryan Milton DuBose.
John Hardy and Addie lived on Hardy Smith Road in the Sam Houston National Forest and then in a house across from the Cedar Brake Park in Montgomery, Texas.
