CLINTON — Norman Edward Evans III, 56, Clinton, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 25, 2010) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.
He was born March 9, 1954, at Miami Beach, Fla., son of Norman Evans II and Martha Morris Evans. He married Kathy Lowery on Aug. 29, 1987, at Waynesville.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Evans, Clinton; mother, Martha Vorwerk, Springfield, Mo.; son, Matthew Evans, Clinton; and daughter, Kristin Evans, Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1984 on the USS Sam Rayburn and the USS Ben Franklin.
He was a member of the Waynesville American Legion Post 1189. He was also an avid supporter of the DeWitt County Youth and was very involved with the Cub/Boy Scout Troop 1142. He was a leader of the Barnett Busy Bees 4-H Club, served on the Youth Advisory Committee of the U of I Extension of DeWitt County and was a coach for the YMCA soccer teams for many years.
Norm moved to the area in 1984 when he was employed at the Clinton Power Station and was still working there at the time of his death
