William Francis "Buddy" Beyer
Birth: Aug. 10, 1918
New York County (Manhattan)
New York, USA
Death: Jun. 14, 2001
Fulton County
New York, USA

William Francis Beyer was born in the Hell's Kitchen section of New York City to Hanorah "Nora" Vail and William Beyer. His maternal grandparents, Mary Kennedy Vail and Frank Veale, had immigrated from County Waterford, Ireland.
His paternal grandparents, Johanna Altenberg Beyer and Julius Beyer, had immigrated from Prussia. Everyone called him Buddy. Buddy attended Sacred Heart Grade School on West 51st Street. He went to High School for a while but left early to work. He drove a horse and wagon for West Side Laundry and later drove a truck for Rosemarie Candies. Eventually he drove an 18-wheeler for Acme Fast Freight where he worked until he retired in 1979.
In 1942 Buddy was at a party given for someone who was drafted into the Army. It was there that he met Angie Lacirignola, who lived on the same block although they had never met. Ten months later on April 26, 1943 they were married at St. Ambrose Church on West 54th Street in New York City. When they returned from their honeymoon at Niagara Falls, a draft notice was waiting for Buddy. He was in the South Pacific when his son, Edward Joseph Beyer, was born on February 21, 1944. Buddy returned from the service early having contracted malaria. He and Angie had two more children: Carole born in 1946 and Susan born in 1951.
Buddy and Angie lived in the same neighborhood until moving to the Bronx in 1972. In 1973 they began spending time at a vacation residence in Gloversville in Upstate New York where friends of theirs had moved years earlier.
In September 1975 Angie died of lung cancer. Buddy began spending more time in Gloversville and in August 1977 he married a widow named Laura Berry Bochenek. Buddy and Laura divided their time between Palmetto, FL and Gloversville, NY. Laura died in 1990 of complications from diabetes. On March 25, 1995 Buddy married another widow, Olive Allen Burdett. They also spent the winters in Florida and summers in Gloversville, NY. Two weeks after driving from Florida to New York, Buddy was diagnosed with colon cancer. He died on June 14, 2001 of complications following surgery. According to his wishes he was cremated. His ashes were interred at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery near the home of his daughter, Carole. Buddy had a great sense of humor, loved children, dogs, cats and horse races. He had a great memory which contributed to his being a trivia expert. His survivors included his wife, Olive; his children: Eddie, Carole and Susan; his grandchildren: Mary, Diane and Katie; his stepdaughter, JoAnn Malik; his sister: Mary Keane and his brother: Bro. Edward T. Beyer, ICB; several nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased by his first two wives and his daughter-in-law, Nancy DeRienzo Beyer. . Buddy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the Gloversville Moose Lodge 351, and a member of the Fulton County Sheriff's Association. (Bio: Daughter - Susan)
