Mrs. Lucy Dean received a telegram yesterday stating that her son, Robert Dean, was shot and killed Saturday night in Cumberland, Maryland. The circumstances of the shooting
were not given.
James Dean, a brother of the dead man will leave this morning for Cumberland to bring the body to Harrisonburg for burial.
Dean left Harrisonburg about five months ago and since then has been employed by the Cumberland Valley Railroad. It is known that Saturday was the regular monthly pay day and his family believe that he was klled for his money. He was twenty-six years old.
Besides his wife, who was Miss Mary Devers, of Harrisonburg, and his mother, he is survived by two children, Mattie and George Dean. He also leaves three brothers, James, John and George Dean, two sisters, Mrs. Nedith Malone and Miss Ada Dean, of Harrisonburg.
