Charlie was the son of Charles Gillon and Agnes Hay. He was married first to Grace Goodall and second to JoAnn McNair. -
In Scotland his father, Charles taught his sons to play an instrument and son Charlie chose the concertina. He played in a little orchestra that his father led, consisting of his sons and other talented children. (See additional pictures at the right; Charlie in front row with concertina)
Charlie came to the US, into Detroit, in 1922, with his father Charles and brother Tommy. His mother Agnes and sister Peggy followed two years later. He lived in Ferndale and worked for Reichhold Chemical most of his working years. He lived in McAllen, Texas with his sweet wife, JoAnn, in his retirement years. He was known for his playing on the concertina, and brought much joy to those who heard him. That is why "Music Man" is found on his marker.
