Thomas Colson's short life ended just a few days after his first birthday. He had been a resident of Denver only a few weeks. His family had moved west from Missouri seeking relief for his mother's tuberculosis.
The family scraped together $33.50 for a tiny coffin and a plot in Fairmount Cemetery. There was no money for a headstone and no will to remain in Denver where the Colsons had lost their youngest child. They returned to Missouri where most of the family still lives today.
