William Joseph "Joe" Jones of Lacey's Spring, a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran, died Monday. He was 46 years old. Mr. Jones received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Expert Badge.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy (Isbell) Jones; one son, William Joseph Jones Jr, of Owens Cross Roads; four daughters, Karen Lynn (Jones) Phillips of Murfreesboro, TN, Casey Renee Berry of New Hope and Emily Jones and Sara Billy Jones, both of Lacey's Spring; his parents, Wilbert Turman (Bill) Jones Sr. and Mary Justine (Everett) Jones of New Hope; five sisters, Betty J. Cooper of Tuscumbia, Mary Jo Ball of Athens and Shirley Martin, Marion Craig and Janet Jones-Bozeman, all of Huntsville; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home with Harold Kelly officiating. Burial was to be in the Hayden Cemetery.
Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbert T. Jones, Jr. (Billy) and his nephew, Wilbert T. Jones, III (Little Billy).
Joe was the former husband of Kathy Ann (James) Jones.
