Mrs. Nordhaus Dies at Daughter's Home
Had Resided in San Antonio for Last Sixty Years.
Mrs. Hannah Nordhaus, a pioneer resident of San Antonio, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Deussen, 130 Lavaca street, early Monday morning. Mrs. Nordhaus was 82 years old, and had made this city her home for the last sixty years. In spite of her advanced age. Mrs. Nordhaus' mind was clear and she always delighted in telling her friends of the early days of San Antonio and the experiences she and her husband encountered upon coming to this state.
She was born in Columbia, S.C., December 1, 1832, but moved to Charleston with her family when a girl. Here she married Alexander Nordhaus and they moved to New Orleans. After living there for some time they came to San Antonio in 1855. Mr. Nordhaus was justice of the peace in this city until the outbreak of the Civil War, when he resigned to enlist in the confederate ranks. He served throughout the war. At the close of the war, he returned to San Antonio and went into business. He died many years ago.
Mrs. Nordhaus is survived by five children, Mrs. Deussen, Representative Eugene S. Nordhaus and Jeff D. Nordhaus, of San Antonio, and Mrs. H. H. Morris, of Galveston, and George C. Nordhaus, of St. Louis, a son, Henry died in Deming, N. M., two years ago. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Hester Morris, of Galveston, 24 grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive her.
The funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. Deussen at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rabbi Samuel Marks will conduct the services and interment will be made in Bethel Cemetery. The active pallbearers will be Julius Tengg, Adolf Badus, August Nesters. Simon Frank, Jesse Oppenheimer and Sol Saper, Honorary: Saul Wolfson, A. Haiff, Albert Huth, Hoseah Morris, J. H. Dialmann, and August Briam.

Died in San Antonio, Texas., at 6:15 o'clock AM. May 15, 1916, Mrs Hannah Nordhaus, aged 82 years. Funeral will take place from residence of daughter, Mrs. Charles Deussen, 130 Lavaca St., Tuesday May 16th, at 4 o'clock PM. Interment, Beth El Jewish cemetery. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Austin, Texas, Galveston, Texas and Atlanta, Ga. papers please copy.
