Woodburn, Ore.----Virgal E. "Beat" Meisenheimer, 72, Woodburn, a former Liberal resident, died Sept. 6, 1992 in Silverton, Ore. He was born in Floris, Okla., on June 22, 1920. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the D-Day Invasion at Normandy. He married Bula Dye on June 12, 1943 at Fort Sill, Okla. After his enlistment, he lived and worked as a capenter in Liberal until they moved to Woodburn in 1953 when he worked on a family turkey farm.

He later owned and operated an excavation service from 1960 to 1971. He then owned Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises in Lamar, Colo. and Guymon, Okla. from 1971 to 1976. They returned to Woodburn in 1978. He was a member of the Woodburn United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, Elks Camper Club, Shriners and Eastern Star. He also served on the board of directors for the Belle Passi Cemetery in Woodburn.

Survivors include four brothers, Bud Meisenheimer, Silverton, Ore.; Claude Meisenheimer, Liberal; Orval Meisenheimer, Gresham, Ore., Willis Meisenheimer, Salem, Ore.; and a sister Velma Goetzinger, Beaver, Okla. His wife, Bula, preceded him in death in December 1990.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Woodburn United Methodist Church, with committal services following at Belle Passi Memorial Mausoleum in Woodburn. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Simon Funeral Chapel, Woodburn. Memorial contributions are suggested for the Woodburn United Methodist Chruch and the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Portland.
