LASHER BODY RECOVERED FROM RIVER

The Body of Ransom Lasher, 26 year old construction laborer who drowned late last Wednesday afternoon in Swirling waters near the site of No. 9 lock and dam on the Allegheny river, was removed from the water at 8:30 o'clock this morning, across the river from Rimerton. The body was floating down stream near the right bank of the river when first seen. York Construction Company offices were advised. Rimer is approximately two to three miles downstream from the point where Lasher lost his life. Coroner M.M. Banks was notified at 10:30 this morning and went to the scene at once for a routine investigation. Lasher, third workman to lose his life in construction work on the giant river job, went under when he stepped from shore and was apparently caught in a whirlpool of the swift current. A numbeer of men were in the crew with which Lasher was working but none saw him after he was pulled beneath the surface, it was reported at the time. The workmen had been engaged in pulling a small float, which had broken away earlier in the day, back upstream.
