John J. Hertzke
Birth: Sep. 17, 1929
Lehigh County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Jan. 19, 2007
Davis County
Utah, USA

John was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1929 to Mary D. Goodman and George A. Hertzke. He was a career military man and civil servant, specializing in criminal investigations and security. When he retired, he and Marie, his wife of over 50 years, settled in Utah, which he thought was "God's country". He was a very articulate man with an incredible memory for dates and the names of people he had met in his travels. He was always quick with a story or a joke. He worked hard, played hard and loved his family, golf, and baseball.

He is survived by his wife Marie; his children Chris (Devin) Calcut, Michael (Elaine) Hertzke, Marykay Hertzke, Johnnie (Holly) Hertzke, and Steven (Shelley) Hertzke; his grandchildren Ian (Mariah) Hertzke, Zackary Anton, and Bailey Arnold; and his sister, Jeannette Powell.

John passed away from the effects of a stroke. He spent his last days in his own home with his family around him. He requested that no service be held for him as he wanted to leave as quietly as he entered. In the spring, his family buried his ashes in the Eden Cemetery. He Lives on forever in our hearts.

It broke so many hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone. For a part of them went with you on the day God called you home.
