Esther was the daughter of John Wesley and Susan Walker Berry Bailey. She was the third, and the first girl, of nine children. She married William Dudley Horn on Dec. 13, 1885, in Grayson County, Texas. They had five children: Mamie Leota "May," Zelda Zorado "Zoe," Lena Bertha "Bertha," John Dudley "Dud," and Reason Esther Horn. She died as a result of complications of the birth of Reason Horn.
