"Mrs. John Flesher
LAID TO REST AT HERRICK -
HAD REACHED ADVANCED AGE OF 95 YEARS

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist Church of Herrick for Mrs. John Flesher, 95, who passed away on June 22 at Selah, Wa. following a lengthy illness. Rev. B. S. Locher, local pastor, conducted the rites. Pallbearers were Roscoe White, Robert Hermsen, Roy Zimmerman, Leon Klundt, Theo. Stroh and Chas. Good. Burial was made in Herrick cemetery.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Wm. Miller throughout the service and she also accompanied the quartet, Mrs. Roland Klein, Mrs. Caroline Young, Mrs. Sam Burger and Mrs. Wayne Whitley who sang "God Will Take Care of You", "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Misses Alice Klundt, Sheila Allum, Leila Hysell and Francis Forchtner were flower girls.

Rebecca Ann New was born on March 19, 1856 at Terra Haute, Indiana and passed away Jun 22, 1951 at the age of 95 years, three months and three days.

In her early childhood she came with her parents to Iowa where she spent her early life. She was united in marriage to John Flesher on June 24, 1872 and to this union nine children were born.

They came to South Dakota in 1917 and resided in the St. Charles and Herrick communities for 21 years. "Grandma" Flesher, as she was known by many, was a devout Christian. In her earlier life it was by her efforts that many Sunday Schools were organized. She was Superintendent of Sunday Schools for a period of 35 years until illness forced her to resign.

She has been in poor health for a number of years and bore her suffering with great patience. She was a kind and loving mother and will be missed by all who knew her. Since the fall of 1928, she made her home with her daughter at Selah, Wa. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church.

Left to mourn her passing are three daughters, Mrs. Ray Radford of Selah, WA., Mrs. R. D. Erickson of Chicago and Mrs. Jerry Dunn of Herrick; two sons, Frank and Bill Flesher of Jackson, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren, besides a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and four children.

I cannot say and I will not say
That she is dead. She is away!
With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand
She has wandered into an unknown land.
Think of her still as the same I say;
She is not dead, she is just away.

Relatives attending services from a distance were Bill and Frank Flesher of Jackson, Mich., Gerald Cimmer of Chicago, Mrs. Joe Warks and son, Bob, of Haynes, N. D., Mrs. Ray Radford and son, Roger, Mrs. Bill Rust and Mrs. Don Parish, all of Selah, Wa. and Mr. and Mrs. Henry New of Caller, S. D.

Memorial services were held at Shaw and Sons Chapel at Yakima, Wa on June 24." --Unknown Nebraska Newspaper
