Known by her family and many friends simply as "Miss Charlene", she never met a stranger and even if she did she would feed them! The things she loved the most was her God, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her church, her children, her grandchildren and her friends.

No family reunion or church homecoming would be complete without a huge vat filled with her homemade chicken and dumplins. She remarked shortly before she died, "When I get up to heaven the first thing they are going to say to me is "Welcome home Miss Charlene" and then they will ask me "Miss Charlene did you bring any chicken and dumplins???"

She also loved her roses and traveling with friends on summer bus tours to Branson and Dollywood. One love that also didn't die with his passing was her affection for country singer Conway Twitty.

My first request to God when my mother left this world for heaven was, "Could you have Saint Peter meet her at the gate with hugs from Jesus and roses from Conway saying, "Hello Darlin"! You can rest now Mama. Leave Conway alone as much as possible.

Like the song says, "There ought to be a hall of fame for mama's." Jesus, (your will not mine)...you can start right here.
