Coy Christian was the son of Joseph Christian and Laura Aloysia Babin Casso. Coy married Nell Raphael Militello, July 9, 1947, in Gonzales, Louisiana and was the father of two sons. Coy was the owner of Casso's restaurant and lounge, located in Gonzales. He was in business from 1939 until the time of his death. Coy served with the Jolly Rogers of the Fifth Air Force during WWII. He was awarded the Soldier's Medal, for extraordinary heroism above and beyond the call of duty. After an airplane cash and despite burning gasoline and rounds of ammunition exploding around him, he saved every man in the wreckage. Coy was also awarded Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.
